Among the beers of Scottish origin, the heaviest ales brewed are now known as “Scotch Ales” and exhibit deep malt flavor. Fermented slowly and fairly cold with the famous McEwan’s Scottish ale yeast, our Wee Heavy has the characteristic clean, smooth flavor that makes it unique from other beers in the ale family that finish with more fruitiness. A touch of smoked barley malt and crystal malts add to the complexity of this velvety brew. Named after Hayden, the first son of two of Blue Mountain’s owners, who is no longer wee, but his beer is still comfortably heavy.
